Take Rate

Licensing ModelPricing Model

A licensing-model decision where the value metric is a percentage of a money flow the customer already measures. The unit is the money flow, not the work the software performed. The flow decides the type: transaction value settling through the vendor's software (the rail take rate, native to marketplaces, payment facilitators and platforms that sit in the money path, frequently beside a free or near-free software layer since the rail carries the revenue), the customer's own revenue (the royalty shape), the spend the product manages (advertising, cloud, payroll, procurement), or a cost line the product carries or administers. "Percentage-based pricing" in market taxonomies names this family and usually means only its rail type.
